Kage Baker’s “The Company”

I went looking online for a clear timeline of all Kage Baker’s Company stories. Such a thing doesn’t appear to exist. The best I found was a comprehensive bibliography at ISFDB.org, but it wasn’t in a format the suited me. So, being a strange kind of person, I wasted an hour or so, converting it into something that suited me.

This is in publication order. I can’t find sources for chronological order, but if enough information comes up in the Tor.com reread with Stefan Raets, I’ll try to add it to the table.

The column for “Collected In” generally only includes what, it seemed to me, was the easiest way to find the story. If you want full bibliographic detail for each story, check out Kage Baker’s page at the ISFDB.com.

  1. Wow! Nice! I’ll be reading The Graveyard Game next and then all of the stories of Black Projects, White Knights since that book was published next.
I was introduced to The Company through A Night on the Barbary Coast, which is in the anthology The Time Traveler’s Almanac. Since then, it’s been nothing but work trying to find copies of novels and stories that are out of print. 😉

  2. Kirsten, I highly, highly recommend Stefan’s readalong on Tor.com. He’s doing an amazing job of highlighting all sorts of things I’ve missed. Also, Kage’s sister Kathleen is providing wonderful posts about the writing of each book after we’ve finished it.

  3. Oh you are doing the Lord’s work — this is wonderful! I need to catch up on the Tor.com readalong and I very much need to reread the whole series, along with all the short stories. It’s been way too long!

  5. This is fantastic! I have a similar spreadsheet but I’m such a Luddite that I haven’t figured out how to include it in a post yet. I’ll get around to it by the time we’re starting on the short stories in the reread. Thanks for the kind words and for your participation in the reread!
