Eva Ibbotson

I think The Great Ghost Rescue was my first Eva Ibbotson book, lo, these many years ago. (Having just bought a Kindle copy to read with Marcus, I see the copyright date is 1975 so it isn’t exactly a new book.) Years later a found a copy of A Company of Swans in a second hand bookshop and fell in love with her adult (now marketed as YA) novels. In typical fashion, I bought them up second hand, read several but never read them all. My plan was to reread those and leave the children’s books, but while looking for covers I found myself feeling nostalgic for some of those children’s stories as well. Everything is listed here, but I’m not holding myself to reading the children’s ones if I choose not to.

Just Finished Up Next

I reread Magic Flutes earlier this year (such a lovely book) and, as I said above, I did buy The Great Ghost Rescue to read with Marcus. We’re up to chapter 5 and enjoying it so far. If we wants to keep reading the books, I’ll keep on going with him. Otherwise, it’s a case of how I feel at the time.

Hmm, I thought I had copies of Madensky Square and A Song for Summer but I can’t find either. I have a feeling I might have loaned/given them to my mother because I had never quite got around to reading them. I will have to check with her. She’s coming up to stay in a few weeks, so maybe if she has them, I can ask her to bring them back. I’m going to leave them listed as “owned in paper” for now, but I’ll change it if she doesn’t have them either.
